IVN-mite for house dust mite allergy
The most common of all allergies, and one of the most debilitating, is that to house dust mites (HDMs). It is estimated that there are about 30 million patients in the USA (45% of those with allergies) and 43 million patients in Europe (49% of those with allergies) who suffer from HDM allergies. The prevalence of HDM allergies in the SAPALDIA study1 was found to be 8.9% among the European population. The high prevalence of this allergy makes immunotherapy with HDM extracts an attractive candidate for preventing the onset of new sensitizations against other allergens in children.
ImVisioN has selected proteins known to induce the allergic symptoms in most of the HDM-affected patients, as the allergen module in the MAT ™-protein.
Developmental stage
IVN-mite is currently in the research stage and has already obtained promising data in ex vivo studies with blood drawn from patients suffering from HDM allergy2. ImVisioN is currently performing further studies in order to assess potency and efficacy of such potential product candidates.
